Rye is an underachieving student of the mortuary arts. Quietly cast out from the Saltine Spire dwarves after being suspected of improperly handling the dead.
Connection: Works with Razzi
Rye has worked frequently with Razzi who does odd jobs around town and has dug the occasional grave for the city morgue.
Connection: Knows Ghost’s Matronly Dead Ancestor
One of the spirits that hangs around Rye and gives him advice is a dead old lady related somehow to Ghost. Maybe she is his long dead grandmother or maybe she’s not related by blood to him but through his warlocky connections.
Tension: Distrusting of (Jim)
Devas are continually reborn rather than just dying like everyone else. Rye finds the idea very disturbing and a threat to his faith.
Nemesis: The Shadowy Spirit
Rye can see and communicate with the spirits of the dead. On three occasions he has caught a glimpse of a dark shadow-like spirit unlike the usual dead he is familiar with. The shadow always slides away before Rye can contact it or even really see it. At all sightings the other spirits have become uncommunicative when the shadow appeared.
What is this dark shadow that seems to be following Rye? Are the other spirits afraid of it? If so, what could make the dead feel fear?
